Now text emergency 911

The Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority, which manages emergency services dispatch for all first responders in the county, unveiled the new technology over the summer. It’s as simple as filling out “911” in the recipient field. “People do prefer (texting), so we’re glad to have that extra lifeline,” LETA Executive Director Kimberly Culp said. It’s more than just good for those more used to hitting send than talking on their phones. It makes emergency reporting easier for those with hearing and speech impairment, for those in situations where they might not be able to talk and for those with limited cellphone service. Fort Collins 7-11 Store Robbery

Fort Collins police on Friday continued to search for a man who brandished a handgun and demanded cash during an early morning heist at a 7-Eleven. Officers were called at 2:31 a.m. Thursday to 7-Eleven, 970 W. Horsetooth Road, in Fort Collins on a report of a robbery in progress. An unknown suspect entered the convenience store, displayed a gun and demanded cash, police said Friday. The man, captured on security footage, wore a black hoodie, had his face covered and was described as being 6-feet-1-inch tall. The Loveland Police Department would like to warn the citizens of Loveland about the dangers of leaving your vehicle unattended with the motor running. When people do this, they increase the chances that they may be the victim of motor vehicle theft. Although experience has taught us that thefts of unattended and running motor vehicles occurs with much greater frequency in the winter months and early morning hours, these types of thefts can happen at any time of the year and any time of the day. Assault Arrest-may lead to solving 8 other cases!

On November 21, 2014, at 10:59 am, as the result of a joint investigation with Fort Collins Police Services, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office arrested Fort Collins resident Jose Angel Alderete-Gomez (07/08/1987) on allegations of 2nd Degree Assault. This arrest is related to the assault reported to LCSO on October 8, 2014 during which a woman was attacked by a male while riding her bicycle along the Highway 1 corridor just north of Fort Collins. Larimer County Sheriff's Office investigators have been and continue to work with Fort Collins Police Services investigators concerning incidents that occurred within the city limits of Fort Collins related to similar assaults in the months of September, October, and November. Update: Police Investigate Suspicious Incidents/Physical Assaults

Fort Collins Police Services is investigating two additional incidents which may be related to the series of physical assaults perpetrated against women in Fort Collins and unincorporated Larimer County in the past several months. On October 24, 2014 at approximately 10:30pm, Fort Collins Police responded to the 3000 block of West Elizabeth Street in Fort Collins to the report of a female victim who had been jogging in the area and was physically assaulted by a single male suspect.
