The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in obtaining information regarding a residential fire that occurred at 7109 North Taft Hill Road in Fort Collins on the morning of August 29, 2015. Recently, the Loveland Police Department has been fielding calls regarding a scam. Our citizens have reported receiving a phone call from a person who identifies himself as an employee of the US Treasury Department saying the call recipient owes the IRS money. The scammer tells the call recipient that if they do not make immediate payment, they will be arrested and brought before a judge. In one particular case today, an employee of a local money-transfer store had a man come in with cash to make a transfer. The man was still on the phone with the person claiming to be the Treasury agent when he arrived at the store. Fortunately, this alert employee called the Loveland Emergency Communications Center. Front Range Community College is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of those involved in recent bomb threats to the college’s campuses in Fort Collins and Longmont. On Monday, the Fort Collins campus was briefly evacuated when graffiti was discovered in a bathroom stall indicating that there was a bomb on campus. Monday’s evacuation came on the heels of another evacuation on the Fort Collins campus Friday. A student named Sebastian Pimentel-Calvo posted a video Sept. 18 on social mediathat mimicked the shooting of both an FRCC professor and student. Campus was evacuated. The Estes Park Police Department is seeking information related to an attempted assault at the Lake Estes Trail the evening of September 15. At approximately 7:51 p.m., a female victim reported a male suspect accosted her, possibly in an attempt to commit theft, while she walked along the western side of the Lake Estes Trail. The suspect reportedly fled the scene running eastbound on the trail. Police are searching for the suspect, who is described as a male with a tanned or dark complexion, approximately 15 to 19 years of age, between 5’9” and 6’ tall, 140 to 150 pounds, with dark hair and brown eyes, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, long black athletic shorts and gym shoes. A man reportedly offered a middle school student $500 to get in his vehicle near Ninth and Locust streets in Windsor on Wednesday afternoon (Sept 2, 2015). She refused and went home to report the incident. Law enforcement is investigating the incident and is searching for the suspect’s vehicle, that is described as a blue or brown “boxy” van with tinted windows, according to a Windsor school district news release. This is the second incident in Windsor this week involving strangers asking students to get in their cars.
