The 8th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been activated to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Fort Collins. At 4:50 a.m., Fort Collins 9-1-1 received a call regarding a suspicious circumstance at the America’s Best Value Inn at 1809 N. College Avenue. The caller said he heard a loud noise and a hole appeared in the ceiling above him. Fort Collins Police officers responded and attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened the door wielding a firearm and an officer fired their weapon, striking the man. The suspect is deceased. POLICE SEEK HELP IDENTIFYING ROBBERY SUSPECT Read more here: Police need the community’s help identifying a suspect who robbed a local store after threatening employees. On August 18, 2017, a male entered AutoZone at 1180 N. College Avenue. He approached employees, displayed a weapon, and demanded money and access to the store’s safe. After stealing a large amount of cash, the suspect left the store and walked north. An outdoor security camera briefly captured him walking (video on youtube). A vandal targeted the Islamic Center of Fort Collins early Sunday morning. (Coloradoan News) Shattered glass littered the carpet of the center’s prayer room, and outdoor furniture was overturned. When people arrived for the first prayer of the day about 5:30 a.m., they found the scene, said President of the Islamic Center Tawfik AboEllail. They found several large rocks that had been thrown through glass doors and into the prayer room, as well as a Bible that had been thrown through the broken glass. On December 7, 2016 at about 3:20 PM an employee of Lee’s Cyclery at 202 W. Laurel reported that a male suspect had stolen a bicycle from the store. The male suspect was described as a white male, approximately 35-40 years old wearing a black jacket, brown hat and black backpack. The male suspect was looking at a bicycle and when the employee was not looking, he left the store with a red and white colored Specialized brand 29 inch mountain bike valued at $2500. The serial number on the bicycle ends with the numbers 8601. Video images of the suspect were obtained. On September 23, 2016, at approximately 5:30 pm, the Timnath Police Department received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a local farmer’s field. The field is located north of East Prospect Road and Larimer County Road 5. When the Timnath Police Department approached the vehicle they found a deceased body in the vehicle. Larimer County Sheriff’s Office immediately responded to assist Timnath with the scene. At this time the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office has taken the primary role in the investigation and Timnath Police Department will be assisting. The deceased body is being investigated as a homicide. At this time no further information will be released.
Between 10:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, and 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, eight vehicle trespasses occurred in the Mary’s Farm area of the Town of Berthoud. The specific area targeted was between 1st and 4th Streets (east to west) and E. Michigan and Iowa Avenues (north to south). All of the vehicles entered were left unsecured and were easily accessed by the suspect(s). Electronics, cash, credit cards, and other miscellaneous items were reported stolen. On September 6, 2016 at approximately 4:00 a.m., the Loveland Police Department received a call from a resident in the 400 block of 23rd Street SW. The caller said that he woke up and saw a man leaving his house. Loveland police officers were dispatched to the home. While the officers were responding to the home, the Department received another call from a different home a few houses away. The second caller said he heard someone walking through his house.
